SIMPLEWOOD FEATURE : LIFE/CULTURE
It suddenly hit me today that people are a lot less happier than they seem, and a lot more happier than they seem. To blantantarise [hur hur] this into easier to understand terms - the Gothic horde down the beach seem to make more of a fashion statement about depression. Which is very unappealing to most of us, but also incredibly sad. Sad that there are people out there, people that WE KNOW ourselves who aren't goths and all black who wear fake smiles and are good at it.
People who are truly innocent and beautiful inside but can't see it, and won't realise it. But there are certain people who CAN see it... er, like me [must be all the G Funk] among others. And InI write this article to those close to us down the beach who are depressed inside and are keeping it hidden away. Unlike the group of goths down the beach, these people don't flaunt their depression, but really are depressed, and to the depressed ones among us, you need to know this:
Things can and will get better. You need to know that you aren't bad people, and InI truly give my heart out to you people for not flaunting your depression. But this doesn't mean you need to hide it and let it eat at you... there are people here you can talk to.
Mockery by anyone means shit, self-inflicted harm is a deep issue. And InI'm sure that we only take the piss out of it because it is flaunted for fashion. If you are scared to talk to the more sensible of us (i.e Not Matt or Bevan) about your worries because you think we'll joke about it, you have nothing to worry. Because InI know that nearly everyone on this site is a truly decent person.
There are no evil people down the beach, the girls that hang around with us, our loved ones, Rhubarb, Simple Wood, our friends... there are no truly malicious and evil people. InI wrote this article to just give you the message: Every one of you, however flawed you may be, are truly a good person inside. Who am InI to judge? No-one, InI'm only this like...fuckin' spectator who's watching the goings-on and seeing it and putting it into articles. Believe.

I see where you're coming from, and I have to say I hate people that seek attention by faking depression (IE Kids announcing to everyone that they're gonna kill themselves at 1pm at the oval and shyt), but there are alot of people that are the opposite and just grin and bear it without talking to anyone.. if everyone trusted each other then we could all talk to each other, and we'd all be better off, unfortunately there are very few people that are good at listening, but when you find those people, hang onto them, cause they're true bluds.

You raised some good points mon. I thought it was a bit unfair to name Bevan and Matt as people not to talk to about stuff haha, but I guess you have a point. As far as the "gothic horde" thing goes, I'm sure it's just a teenage angst thing, needing to cling on to a group to gain approval. It would be so much better if people were more true to themselves. Anyway, they will grow out of it.

I'm llowing a 4 cus everything in teh article is so true, and i think we all have our own problems, not that putting it out in the open will do any good, but im sure it cant do bad either, but if someone is truly more comfortable keeping something to themselves, let it be and dont bitch. also, a lot of people need to understand everything someone does, there is a reason to it, and until you know enough about a person you cannot judge, and in a way this goes for all the "goth" people too, seeing as i dont like to judge people by groups.

Nice one, just wanted to comment on 2 points:
-Depression. It's not a fun thing to go through and I wish I'd had people to talk to when I was fucked up last summer. Even though it may have seemed like I was just being a cunt, I feel so lucky that I've come through my problems. If any of y'all are ever feeling shitty about something, I hope I can be there for you.
-Rammers. Even though it may not be my favourite spot at times, I still try to come down whenever I can, simply because I love the eclectisism of the people you meet. The fact that you've you've got people ranging from gangsta pimp rastas to satan is wonderful, and I just hope we can find somewhere even better to hang by the time we get chucked of the seafront so they can build this piece of retarded piece of shit right on our spot...

Yeah well wrote..don't know why you put Matt and myself as an example to laugh in their faces because they are pathetic attention seeking depressed black punkasses though.

I can see where you are coming from Hill.... Also I think that it's really awful that people pretend that they are depressed and therefore wear goth clothes, to try and fit in with the outsiders so to speak...I myself have relatively few things to worry about...But then again we all have our bad days, when something no matter how small can break us down into tears....But then that works the other way, some people who are depressed and pissed off at the world and all that rubbish do seem to metamorphisise (if thats even a word) into a bubbly and funny person which is when everyone is at their best.
Even though I live in Birchington, I still travel an hour on the bus, often on my own, to hang out with all the people at the sea-front, I think there is a really good vibe there, and no matter how well I'm skating that day I will always have fun... so to everyone at the beach, I thank thee!
