HAMMER BLUES
SIMPLEWOOD FEATURE : SKATEBOARDING
SIMPLEWOOD FEATURE : SKATEBOARDING
Aight, people, this is a health warning okay?
The hammer blues.....well....what can I say...
...after a heavy session filming, say at a large stair set or gap, you will most likely wake up the next morning to find that your legs have died and gone to heaven, this my friends, is the hammer blues.
The problem is you won't be hurting during the session, so you have to know when to throw in the towel.
The cause is that your muscles will be being constantly stretched and shaken, they will be taking in impact after impact, you may expect to see very bruised legs but you won't, this is inner damage people, inner damage.
If you have the Hammer Blues, you should not go out and skate (not that you'll be able to), you should wait 3-5 days before skating and definately a week before filming anything.
To avoid the Hammer Blues, you must simply know when enough is enough, your legs can probably take about an hour of constant gap-hopping before they decide to die. If you absolutely HAVE to film things, try and warm your legs up, and warm them down between each venture, this will allow them to prepare and recover themselves.
The best thing to do when you get home is take a nice hot bath, this will soothe your muscles, meaning that they may not want to kill you quite so badly the next morning.
Basically, in order to avoid you must have common sense.....good luck!

I hate hammer blues. You don't realise it till the next day... when you finally sympathize with pensioners.
PS: Chris, brusing IS inner damage :P
